Quarter finals continue...
While the Cyclones have had Mitchell's number all season, the local boys continued to believe that it was possible to beat their visitors if they worked at it together.

It's never too late to get that first win against a team that went undefeated in league play all season.  Game #2 took place in Mitchell and it would take hard work and a total team effort if they were going to be successful.  The game began with a full roster and everyone came ready to play.  Chances were earned by the forwards, defensemen stood firm, and Duncan guarded his net from Cylcone pucks.

It was also evident that the officials were going to keep things under their watchful eyes as many infractions resulted in powerplays, penalty kills and off-setting minors throughout the game for both teams.  But it was midway through the 1st when Curtis Eidt took control (short handed), made his way into the Cyclone's end all alone.  His hard work was rewarded as he put the Meteors up by one (unassisted).  Less than two minutes later (on the power play), McMann & Rauser's tenacity worked the puck deep into the Listowel end, then out from behind the Cyclone net, and into the crease where MacLean would clean things up to put the home team up by 2.

The Meteors continued working together in the second period and they did have their share of penalty killing opportunities.  Eidt was having one of his best games of the season and would put his baseball skills on display as he batted Harmer's shot into the net out of mid-air for a beautiful goal to put them up by 3 - ten minutes into the second period.

Play continued into the 3rd period and while there were opportunities generated, the keepers kept their nets rubber free thoughout the frame and Mitchell would finally get their first win.  And what a time to do it as Duncan gets his shutout and teamwork ties up the series at one win a piece.

Great work boys and thanks for putting on a great show for the fans.

Game #3 goes Sunday night @ 7:30 in Mitchell.
