Going the distance!
After going up two games and then giving the next two back to Kincardine, this series went the distance to game 5 tonight in Kincardine and what a game it was!

After Friday night's overtime loss in Mitchell, the Kinucks forced game 5 in the series up along the west coast in Kincardine.  And it would prove to be just as entertaining as the previous night's game.  Hard work and determination was put out by both teams, and play would go from end to end for much of the 1st period where goal tending was solid at either end.  While it looked as though the period may end scoreless, Rauser and Vogels would get in on a 2 on 1 and Rauser made a great move to tuck it by the Kinuck keeper and take a 1 goal lead into the 2nd.

Solid play by the Meteor defensive core, and great backchecking by the forwards would aid their keeper throughout the game.  But when the home team did break in, it was Duncan who was ready for them.  It wouldn't be until 4:15 was remaining in the 2nd that the Kinucks would break in and beat the Meteor's goalie to tie things up.  Rather than become discouraged, Mitchell dug in their blades and moved the puck back up the ice.  Late in the same period it would be McMann who would send a beauty shot in from the point where Rauser found the rebound and Murray sent the puck bouncing back in, off the post, and then off the back of the keeper's pads with enough on it to slide in and restore the one goal lead.

The Meteor's came out flying again in the third, and knowing that Kincardine was not going to sit back and watch, looked to get that important insurance goal.  Their hard work was rewarded at 6:27 when Eidt moved the puck smoothly over to Harmer, who fed Boville breaking up the wing all alone.  Great hustle and a sweet wrist shot from Boville would get that insurance goal and give Mitchell a 3-1 lead which they carried though the final buzzer!

What a game!  What a series.  Now things move on and will see Mitchell take on Listowel in the next series (Listowel beat Goderich 3 games to 2).

Congratulations Boys!
