U13 Meteor Girls continue winning streak.
The Ace Garden Centre U13 Girls extended their win streak to
seven with two more wins this week, defeating the Stratford Aces and
Tillsonburg Lightning.
The game against Stratford was back and forth, with the
Meteors having a slight edge over the Aces in the 2-0 victory. Many good
chances on both sides, but the Meteors were able to capitalize with two goals,
one each from Danica Voros and Leah Sills.
In the Tillsonburg game, the Meteors had pressure applied
throughout the entire game. The first goal came on a pass from the goal line by Martyna
Hartwig to Kinslee Horan at the blueline, who rifled a shot in the net. Danica
Voros grabbed the second goal of the period as she broke free and fired a nice
shot.
In period two, the pressure continued. The next goal came as Hartwig
won the draw back to Chantel Mergl then to Horan who fired her wrist shot in
the net. The next goal came off a great pass from Voros to Breanne Carnochan,
who made no mistake putting it past the Lightning goaltender. The final goal of
the game came on a pass from Felicity Parish up the boards to Hartwig, who broke
free and put the 5th and final goal on the board for the Meteors in the 5-0 win.
The coaches mixed things up position wise to round out the
third period with the game ending on a curfew.
Ally VanBakel played strong in net both games, marking two more shutouts
to her resume. Very strong team effort during both games.
