McDonald's U11 Rep in Wine Country
Mitchell Meteors U11 Rep boys packed their bags for the Harvest Classic Niagara on the Lake Tournament this passed weekend.

U11 Rep Boys claim Silver against rival Saugeen shores on the weekend in Niagara.
The action started Friday morning where it seemed like they caught the Mooretown Jr Flags a little drury from their travels; Myles 'Magic Stick' Haven lit the scoreboard first with a deke through their Defense and a rifle wrist shot top right corner.  A little while later, Myles 'Magic Stick' Havens upped the magic in his stick and dusted 3 of the opponents to slide one through the five hole.  Final goal for of the first was also a hattrick goal for Myles 'Magic Stick' Havens accepting a tape to tape pass from Kaden 'Lights Out' Elligsen with 7 seconds left in the first.  Second period showed that the Mooretown Jr Flags were starting to wake up, our Defense crew had their work cut out for them as they helped Jack 'Lazer' Laverty keep their score a zero.  Third period was all Mooretown where they netted 2 and then pulled their tendie to try and tie it up.  Great work from the team to hold them at 2.  Mitchell wins first game 3 to 2.

Second match was against the South Grenville Rangers who came out the gate strong netting one first.  Mitchell returned the favour 2 minutes later with Myles 'Magic Stick' Havens' first of the game, and not to be outdone, 30 seconds later Magic nets a second goal to get the crowd going.  The first period ends with a well timed wrap around by Myles 'Magic Stick' Havens to stuff it passed their goaltender. Second period 'Magic' started with a text book break out pass from Liam 'Checkers' Chessell, up to Remy 'Steel' Ryan over to Myles 'Magic Stick' Havens for Magic's Hattrick goal.  South Grenville answered back with a second goal a little later.  Kaden 'Lights Out' Elligsen's turn to light the scoreboard after taking a pass from the match's playmaker, Remy 'Steel' Ryan, only to have the crowd hushed with another goal from South Grenville 7 seconds later.  Third period hockey had South Grenville taking penalties and the Meteors capitalizing; Owen 'Crash' Dietrich pocketed his first of the tournament accepting a pass from Remy 'Steel' Ryan, followed by a nice point shot by Liam 'Checkers' Chessell finding its way in the back of the net and then a fourth goal by Myles 'Magic Stick' Havens after a laser pass from Denver 'Rocky' Verberne. Final Score of 8 to 3.

Fourth match on Saturday morning proved to be a tester for the U11 Rep boys vs Lambeth Lancers; Myles 'Magic Stick' Havens posted a beauty in the first period.  The first Mitchell goal went unanswered until the third when Lambeth tied the score half way through.  In order to break the tie, Landon 'Lose Yourself' Bennewies put the puck on Myle 'Magic Stick' Haven's stick for his second goal; a controversial goal at that, Lambeth bench staff argued that the puck did not enter the net, Referee had a different opinion.  Lambeth came roaring back with a quick goal 25 seconds later to tie the game.  Lambeth then thought they had the go ahead goal with a buzzer beater....but they didn't beat the buzzer, no goal.  Tie Game 2 to 2.

Fifth Match was a rematch and Semi final 'do or die' battle Sunday morning vs Lambeth Lancers, Mitchell Meteors were planning not to have the same game as Saturday and it showed.  Steel pass to Magic backhand finds the net late in the first followed by another Steel to Magic wrister a minute later.  Second period had Steel breakout pass to Crash for an early second period goal.  Fourth goal had Checkers find Magic coming out for a shift and hit a lead pass for a goalie deke and a Hattrick celebration.  Fifth goal was Magic finding his own rebound for Magic's fourth of the match.  Third period put Leo 'The Lion' Furtney, Keaton 'Bruce' Weesjes, Denver 'Rocky' Verberne and Liam 'Checkers' Chessell doing all they could to help Jack 'Lazer' Laverty seal his first Shutout of the tourney, the team succeeded with a knock out 5 to 0 win and on to the finals versus Saugeen.

Final match versus Saugeen proved the breaking point for the Mitchell Meteors U11 Rep boys.  Checkers open the scoring with a goal from the point in the first period, this was followed by 6 goals by the Storm in the second and third period.  After regaining composure, Mitchell launched their last ditch attack with a goal from Landon 'Lose Yourself' Bennewies by a rebound shot followed by a well placed pass from Owen 'Crash' Dietrich over to Nolan 'Pizza' Kelly wristing one passed their goaltender.  Having not enough time to complete the onslaught, Mitchell falls to the Storm at a score of 6 to 3; bittersweet as it's the team's first official loss of the season.

Special thanks to the team sponsor, McDonald's Valumart, Coaching staff: Jake, Cody, Cooper, Mike and Jamie, and all the parents to putting together an amazing weekend with cocktails, stories, and intense mini stick tourneys; a tournament that will be remembered.
