Mitchell Meteors Takes the Gord Hymers Tournament !
McDonald's Valumart U11 Rep Boys go on a 6 game heater to take Gold at the Gord Hymers Tournament.

U11 Rep boys took part in the annual U11 Gord Hymers Tournament in Listowel on the weekend where they faced familiar and new teams.

Game 1 put the Meteors playing against some of their school buddies facing the Central Perth Predators.  With Greyson The Cat Degroot in net, the Meteors ran away with this match 10 to 3, Checkers netted 2 before he left with a battle wound that required stitches.  Lazer decided to lace up skates for the wing and managed to get his 'behind' to score.  Magic managed push 2 passed the joint effort of the predators tenders.  Bob pushed through a hat trick and The Real Deal light the board once.  U11 boys all smiles as goalies were playing forwards, defencemen were taking draws and wingers testing their skills as D men.

Game 2 had the U11 Rep Boys bank in Monkton to take on the South Muskoka Bears.  Boston Bob Bamborough set up Kaden Lights Out Elligsen with a beauty pass who then placed it over to Zach The Real Deal Diehl for Mitchell's first beauty play of the game.  Scoreless 2nd pushed Liam Checkers Chessell on a mad tear to light the board for Mitchell's 2nd goal at the beginning of the third.  Magic rounded out the scoring with Mitchell's third for the win, 3 to 2.

After a good night's sleep, the Meteors tackled the Shelburne Wolves on the big ice surface at the Steve Kerr Arena in Listowel.  The team's second Hat Trick award goes to Myles Magic Stick Havens who pushed to get 4 goals this game!  Lose yourself and Burd pushed for one a piece as Mitchell soars passed the Wolves 6 to 3.

Winning streak of 3 and 6 points put Mitchell in a position to play the second place seed in D pool, this happened to be Stirling Blues.  Another unfamiliar foe, Meteors turned up the heat again jumping up 3 goals in 2 periods from Magic, Steel and The Real Deal.  Meteors pushed for the slaughter in the third with 3 more goals from The Real Deal, Magic and Lose Yourself.  Mitchell goes onto the semi finals with a win of 6 to 1. Lazer once again stood on his head to hold the Blues at 1.

Semi Final action took place against the home team, Listowel Cyclones.  Mitchell came out of the gate strong once again with a quick first period goal from Crash.  A scoreless second period started with the Cyclones tying the game with a power play goal in the third.  Meteors answered with  2 more goals from The Real Deal and Magic to put Mitchell in the driver's seat for the finals.  Score of 3 to 1 Mitchell.  Another awesome combination of offensive action with defensive play from the team.

Finals put an undefeated Meteors vs another undefeated new opponent, the Delhi Rockets.  Although weary from stomping 5 other teams, Mitchell pulled off a squeaker of a win of 2 to 1.  An amazing display of Goaltending from Lazer mixed with some stand up defensive action held the Rockets out of the net however not from playing inside the defensive zone just about all game.  A nail biter of a win with help from The Real Deal and Crash to hold the Rockets at a 2 to 1 victory pushed smiles across the whole team.

Congrats on the fight for Gold Meteors!
