Jovial January, Dreadful December
Well, dreadful just about summed up our December results.

Our December schedule was front loaded, but we seemed to lose every game either 3-0 or 4-2. Despite the scores, Maggie continued to grow more confident in net.

After a lazy, restful 3 week break at the end of December, the girls came out surprisingly strong in their first game of 2019, with a tie vs Woolwich.

We then had a tough game against Alphabet Soup, but then a really strong game against Twin Center, right before our Orillia Tournament.

The tournament was a mixed bag of results. So was the parents gambling at Casino Rama. I don't think Maggie's Dad slept at all that weekend.
On the ice, Lauren Steel finally started to play old time hockey by becoming more aggressive and throwing her weight around. During one tourney game, she delivered a punishing blow to player number 12. She should have been thrown in the box or suspended for the infraction, however player number 12 was a member of her own team. Poor Faithy is still recovering from a bad knock to the head.
In more excitement from the ice, the defensive pairing of Rae and Steel teamed up to score a beauty of a goal. The young and talented J Rae fired a beautiful pass from the corner into the slot where Lauren then ripped a shot off an opposing player into the net. Unfortunately, Lauren's goal put the opposing team up 1-0 as we were in our own end at the time. The former Ringette gals, Khloee and Maddie had a good chuckle over this one from the bench.

In some off ice news, the girls had a blast using the pool and other facilities at the hotel, and there was an excellent team dinner at Wild Wing, arranged by Jeannie Rae, with professional consultation from Steel.

We are looking forward to Provincial playdowns and our second away tournament in Brantford at the end of February.

Thanks always to our team sponsor, HDC.
