Welcome to the 2018 Midget Girls Meteors
Well, it was a wee bit of a bumpy start for our squad!
Hello, my name is Todd Steel, Lauren's (#17 on defence, same number as Wendl Clark, one of the most famous Leafs, ever!) favourite Dad. I will be your narrative host for the season.
Well, it was a challenging pre-season. Sammy, the puck hog, got our first goal of the season.
In regular season play, we have yet to score a goal. The good news is that we are not in last place! The dreaded Stratford team is trailing us, by virtue of their worse goals against average.
There have been some bright spots:
- "Mad-dog" Maggie, our fearless goalie has really improved since we (well, most of us) last saw her play with us in Bantam. I believe this is just Maddie's third year playing in goal.
- We have some new, former Ringette players who have joined us this year: Emma - who scored a goal against the leafy Mount Forrest team, and Maddie and Khloee who have made a great defensive pairing.
- Sophie finally got rid of her old Stratford Aces blue and red hockey pants! Now I can't tell her apart from the others! Mihret is the last holdout for the read and blue. When I asked Stevie, Mihret's Father, if he would consider buying her a new pair of pants that would match the rest of the team, he mumbled something and kept reading his newspaper. I took that as a "NO". That Stevie, he's such a people person!
- We won our first game against Mount Forrest in our tournament (wait, aren't they a "C" team?) Other goal scorers not yet mentioned were Taylor "T" McCann, Faithy Binns, and Ryley, my favourite team is the Leafs, Jacobs. I think Mihret also netted one against Twin Center. I apologize if I'm missing anyone.
