Atom Girls Win, Lose In Weekend Action
The Van Gerwen Sun Life Meteor Atom Girls recorded a win and a loss on the weekend, dropping the South Huron Sabres on the road on March 2nd, but getting blanked 4-0 at home in Monkton on March 3rd by the West Oxford Inferno.
In Stephen Township on Saturday, South Huron opened the scoring early in the first period, but defenseman Addy Wolfe answered back unassisted moments later with a shot from the point that snuck through traffic and in. Alissa Insley knocked in a loose puck assisted by Zoey Michel, and Abigayle Van Bakel would also score to build a 3-1 lead after the first. After a scoreless second period, Emma Groenestege would find the back of the net from Rylee Kipfer and Grace Bach to round out the scoring.
Back at home the next day, the Meteor offense fell flat while hosting the West Oxford Inferno, as not much could be generated offensively all game.
Next action for the girls is Monday night in Waterloo vs the Ravens in WOGHL round robin playoff action.
