Michel's Hat Trick Paces Atom Girls To Two Shutout Wins
The Van Gerwen Sun Life Meteor Atom Girls went 2-1 during a busy weekend of WOGHL play, notching two shutout wins at home 8-0 over Sarnia and 5-0 over Brantford before falling 2-1 to the Waterloo Ravens on Sunday January 27th.



Against Sarnia on Friday night, the visitors couldn't get much going all game as Mitchell controlled the play in the offensive zone for most of the night, ending in an 8-0 win.  Zoey Michel led with a hat trick and two assists, and Camryn Medhurst scored twice and added two helpers.  Ava Harmer also had a pair of goals, and Abigayle Van Bakel added a single marker and two assists to round out the scoring.  Additional assists were awarded to Rylee Kipfer, Addy Wolfe, and Grace Bach.  Alissa Insley and Macie Russwurm shared the shutout duties between the pipes for Mitchell.
On Saturday afternoon, the girls returned to the rink to host the Brantford Ice Cats.  After a someone slow start with a goal in each of the first two periods by Harmer and Van Bakel, the girls put the game out of reach with three more goals in the third by Tegan Mace, Michel, and Harmer's second of the game.  Drawing assists were Alayna McKay, Emma Groenestege, and Medhurst.  Russwurm was awarded the shutout in net for the Meteors.
