Great Start to the Playoffs
The Mitchell Meteors Atom LL team started their playoffs with a win against the BCH Ice Dogs #1 team in Clinton this past Saturday.
Its always a tight score against the Ice Dogs and this game was no exception as the Meteors edged the Ice Dogs 2-1. Matthew M. put the meteors on the board first with a quick one-timer assisted by Colby F. who banked the puck of the boards behind the net and directly into the shooting path of Matthew. Jack C. added the second goal with a well placed backhander from a rebound assisted by Austin J. This gave the Meteors a 2-0 lead going into the third period. This two-goal lead didn't last long as the Ice Dogs managed to score early in the third period, sending a message to the Meteors that the game wasn't over yet. The remainder of the third period was a nail-biter especially as the Ice Dogs enjoyed nearly two minutes with a 6 on 4 advantage late in the period. Nevertheless, the boys held on with their one-goal lead giving them two points to start off the playoff season.
The next game is on Wednesday, February 20th against the BCH #2 team in Hensall.
