Season Update
The Tru Country Peeewee Girls B have had a bunch of close games in the last couple of weeks since winning the silver medal in the Mitchell's Women Tournament.

Since the tournament in Mitchell our gals have played some decent games - close battles but one goal usually decides our fate.
On Friday Oct 28th we traveled to Cambridge to take on the Roadrunners.  This game started quick as right from the faceoff, Erica Pletsch scored, only 11 seconds into the game.  This would be the only goal scored in the first couple of periods but eventually Cambridge would get the better of us and score twice in the final period to take the win.  Tough one girls!
The following morning we would once again head that way but this time stop in Kitchener to play the Lady Rangers.  This game was back and fourth with both goalies showing their stuff but half way during the final period of play, the Rangers would score and that take the game 1-0.  Shoot, good game girls, keep shooting and we will get that puck in.
This past weekend the girls had a full schedule with 2 league games on Saturday - first game in Keady vs the TCDMHA Rebels and off to Kicardine in the afternoon to take on the Kinucks.  Sunday we would get the day to relax before the Ayr Rockets came to town for our rematch that night.
As we all arrived in Keady to take on the top team in our league division, we knew this was going to be a tough battle but our girls were determined to get out of their slump!  With the ice ready and a quick pep talk from our bench staff, the girls were off.  TCDMHA would score first but within a few minutes of their goal, Emma French sent the puck to the back of their net, from the pass of Alexa Hahn, whew, nice work girls, let's keep this pace going!  As time was counting off the clock, Taya Cornish would be rewarded with a goal from the quick one timer shot of Jaimie Badley, what a shot!  Yes, we were finally leading and the momentum seemed to be in our favour.  To start the second period we would continue to dominate the play and the puck and when those Rebels had the chance to shoot, our goalie Makayla Beuerman stood tall to shut them down.   Brooklyn Gethke would add to our lead with the help from line mates Emma French and Erica Pletsch.  Alright, just one more period to go and we were leading 3-1.  The final period started and we continued to hold the pressure but those Rebels just didn't back down and started to out skate us on the ice.  With time showing less than 2 minutes left in the game and a flurry of players from both teams in front of our goalie, TCDMHA would score from a screened shot and cut into our lead. Shoot, let's hold them!  As the puck was dropped and the extra players advantage in their favour as we were on a penatly kill and they pulled their goalie for a 6 on 4, they would tie up the game 3-3 and that's were it would end. Darn, tough one girls but what a great game from everyone, it was an edge of the seat type of game.
We would have enough time to grab something to eat and head to Kincardine for our afternoon battle with the Kinucks.  We are very familiar with this team as we had played them quite a bit since the start of the season. The first period would remain scoreless despite chances from both teams but the second period was just not ours as we lost all steam and allowed Kincardine to win the battles.  During this period they would take the 3-0 lead to the final period.  With our backs against the wall, Jaimie Badley would once again battle hard for the puck and be rewarded for her efforts to put us on the scoreboard, Nicole Simmons would earn the assist.  As time was winding down in the final minute of play, we pulled our goalie for the extra attacker but we just couldn't seem to keep it in their end and they skated around us to score on the empty net.  Tough one girls, we just didn't seem to have the fire like we had in the morning.  At least we split the series with them and we each won on our on turf.
Last night we would have our rematch against the Ayr Rockets.  We were keen and ready to leave it all on the ice as we wanted a win.  Again the opening period would solve nothing and the scoreboard would remain at zero.  Second period play picked up and the Rockets would finally bet our goalie to get on the board but we continued to battle back and with just 55 seconds left in this period, Erica Pletsch would knock the puck behind their goalie to score, her shot wouldn't have been possible without the quick passing of Emma French and Meg Schoonderwoerd.  Alright, time to show those Rockets what we are made of!  Final period was set and ready to go.  As the period started, we had many close chances but that goalie was their to shut us down,  but we finally got the chance we needed as Emma French skated the puck up the ice to the stick of Brooklyn Gethke to  have her fire it on net and score.  Yes, what a play!  As the clock continued to count down, those Rockets fired everything they could to our goalie but she was their to block shots and deined them of any chance to score.  The game would end with us winning 2-1.  Awesome game girls!
With all the close battles that we have had lately it was nice to be on the winning side.  Now, the girls will get a bit of a rest before battles start again this weekend with 2 more road games - Saturday afternoon in St Clements and Sunday afternoon in Woolwich.  So send us your positive fibres and cheer go Mitchell go!
