A Few Close Games
The Peewee B Girls have had a few close games over the past week but just come up short in our two away and our one home game.

Last Saturday afternoon the team would travel to Ayr to take on the Rockets.  We would start a bit slow allowing the Rockets to score first but near the final few seconds in the opening period Emma French would score to tie the game.  Her goal made possible by the sweet passing and stick skills of Brooklyn Gethke and Alexa Hahn.  The second period we just seemed to loose steam and the Rockets took full advantage of this and increased their lead 3-1 with just the final period left in the game.  Again the start of the final period would see the Rockets score pass our goalie Makayla Beuerman to lead the game 4-1 but we didn't give up and Brookyn Gethke would knock one in the cut the lead in half, Emma French would earn the assist.  We ended the game down 4-2.  Nice try girls, we'll get them on our turf!
Our next game was again on the road, with us heading to Fergus to take on the Grand River Mustangs. Again we would allow our opponents to open the scoring and take the lead going into the second period.  This time we would score first in the second period from Erica Pletsch and Brooklyn Gethke.  Within a few minutes, the Mustangs would score again to take the lead but we would answer right back this time Jaimie Badley would put the disk in the net from the play making of Arianna Catalan and Brett Gethke.  With the scored all squared at 2, the final twelve minutes would be back and fourth hockey but again the Mustangs would score to take the lead and the game 3-2.  Another close battle but good effort from the team.
Today (Saturday) this afternoon we would host the Guelph Jr Gryphons.  The first period would not be our period as we gave up the first 2 goals of the game.  Second period with many close chances but just couldn't seem to bury the puck the scoreboard would remain the same.  As the third and final period started so did the clock, with time winding down we finally we able to bet their goalie to score, wow, it took a while but we were finally on the board!  Taya Cornish would earn the goal with Emma French and Jaimie Badley making her shot possible.  With the final minutes counting down, we pulled our goalie for the extra attacker, we had a few good chances but as the buzzer sounded, we would get the puck  in the back of the net, refs waived it off, no goal - shoot we ran out of time, if only we had a couple more seconds!  Another good battle from both teams, but we get them next time as we just weren't on our game.
The girls have one more game - tomorrow night (Sunday) in Mitchell vs St Marys, so come on out and cheer on our gals as we get ready for the Annual Girls Tournament here in Mitchell on the weekend.
Let go girls!
