Tyke 1 defeats Lucan Irish 7-3
On Sunday evening, the Walkom Valu Mart tyke 1 team
travelled to Lucan to take on the hometown Irish and may have soured any early
St. Patricks day festivities. The visiting Meteors won 7-3.
Ava Harmer got things started as she found herself the recipient of the strong forechecking of Owen Beuermann and Camryn Medhurst. Carson Brown netted the first of his three shortly after with an unassisted effort. Owen Beuermann added two goals. Due to illness, three call ups from the tyke 2 team all had strong efforts. Isaac Smith earned himself the Coach's Toolbelt as the hardest worker. He had two assists and played strong on the defensive side of the puck. Jayda Houben added a goal and an assist, while Abigayle Van Bakel had an assist. Ben Hubbard and Macie Russwurm were rocks on defence, helping out their goalie Carter Miller, who had another strong game between the pipes. Lucas Bree played a strong game on forward working hard in all three zones. Next up, the tykes travel to St. Mary's for a tournament on St. Patricks day, hopeful they took some "luck" from the Irish to use then.
