After 4 games in the
last 8 days, The girls look forward to a short break before resuming regular season play.
Last Monday, the Meteor Girls hosted South Huron Sabres in a
game that was a back-and-forth battle as expected. Both teams fought hard for
the win but neither came out ahead and settled on a 0-0 tie. Strong defensive
play by Dana Poppe, Elyn Hannon, Casey Crowley, and Kinslee Horan proved to be an
asset to the team and netminder Allie VanBakel in the tie.
Thursday’s game in Woodstock had a comfortable outcome with
the Meteor girls coming out ahead with a 6-0 victory. Points were spread out
among the group with Kinslee Horan, Casey Crowley, Callie VanLoon, Reina Nevin,
Leah Sills and Danica Voros recording goals. Leah Sills, Voros, Elyn Hannon,
and Nevin recorded assists.
Sunday’s game in St. Mary’s was a closer matchup but were still able to claim the victory with a 3-2 win. Goals came from Phoebe Wood, Voros
and Horan.
Monday nights game vs Mt. Forest was a dominant game.
The Meteor girls maintained a consistent work ethic throughout and recorded a
9-1 victory. Goals in the game from Hannon, Nevin (x2), Voros (x2), Wood (x2)
and Horan (x2). Assists went to Nevin, Martyna Hartwig, Voros, and Hannon. Many
great passing plays were executed quite well throughout the game.
