U18 REP D wins Bronze in Young Canada Week
The U18 REP D team visited Goderich for the  73rd annual Young Canada Week Tournament at the YMCA Recreational complex this past March Break and weekend.

The boys got a jump on the standings beginning on  Thursday, at the 12:45 game against the  home town hosts of the tournament, the Goderich  Sailors. It was a tight game, with back and forth chances for both teams, between the 1st and 2nd periods, but leaving a shut out for both net minders,  at the end of 2.   The 3rd period would show to be a more eventful one, with the Meteors opening the score board early in the period with Logan Verberne placing one by the Sailors, taking a lead of  1-0.  Goderich would not let the boys lead for long, answering back quickly, making a tie 1-1 shortly after.  With roughly half the period through, the Meteors would succeed in quenching the lead, 2-1 with a nice goal from Charlie Wolfe, ultimately able to hold it to an eventual win for the 1st game of the tournament.

Game 2 of the tournament was scheduled for  9 AM on Friday March 15th.  Again, the Meteors would come in to the game strong, against the Owen Sound Attack, with just  2 minutes in scoring to take the initial lead by call up Nate Uniac.   The Meteors would retain the lead, with no score on the Attack end by the final of the 1st period, still 1-0 Meteors.  In the 2nd, the boys continued strong with puck play, notching 3 more on the board again the Owen Sound Netminder, making a score of 4-0 to end the 2nd  period, goals from Matthew Menherre, Logan Verberne, Bryce Otten.  The 3rd period of the game would be a little more action on both ends, with Goderich placing one and another by netminder Brooks to make a closer 4-2 score.  Mitchell would answer back with another, followed repeatedly by Goderich, and then again back from Mitchell, with a final end score of 6-3 for the Meteors.

Game 3, was Friday at 7 pm against Upper York. Both teams came out strong  in the 1st period with many scoring chances on both ends, but unable to light up the score by the end of the period.  mid way through the 2nd, York would secure the lead, with a goal placed by netminder Brooks on the power play.  Not Too far after, the Meteors would answer back with a nice pass up the middle and tapped in By Noah Mann. in The 3rd, both teams would score with Uniac on the Meteors game sheet, to continue the tie game effect mid 3rd to keep the pace high and the fans on edge.  The eventual goal to seal the win would unfortunately come from the opponents, with York's win 3-2.

The tournament would continue on  Saturday, with game 4 at  12:45 PM VS, Chatsworth.  The Meteors worked hard through and through, with great chances, and rebound, and stellar saves by netminder Brooks, but ending this early afternoon game in a 2nd loss with a score of  4-2. Goals coming from Bryce Otten and Wilhem Dewitt.

With 2 wins 2 losses, this ended the Meteors in the consolation round at 5:45 vs the South Muskoka Bears.
The Meteors would open the board in the 1st, with a nice goal from Bryce Otten slipped by the the Bears Goalie.
Not too Far after, Matthew Menherre joined in the scoring effort to make it  2-0.  Heading into the 2nd period with a solid lead, the Meteors, would have no mercy, and continue on scoring opportunities, and success by Nick  Wagner, and  Wilhem Dewitt.  The Bears would be able to add one on the visitors side early in the 3rd on the power play, and sneaking on by Brooks, to make a  4-1 game.  Lastly, with strong efforts, Bryce Otten again, was able to notch his 2nd goal of the game, to secure a final win, of  5-1 for the Meteors and Winners of the Consolation end of the Tournament.

The boys proved to have a great tournament, winning Bronze in the 73rd annual Young Canada Tournament and provided outstanding hockey entertainment for all fans over the entire weekend to end the Season for the U18 Rep D,  Great Season Boys.
