Meteors visit Millbrook
The 18U Rep C Mitchell Meteors, travelled to Peterborough/Millbrook February 24th weekend for their 2nd tournament of the season.

The boys held their own, while playing their first game of the tournament at 10 AM in Bewdley, after an early morning drive 3 hours up the highway vs the Orono Leafs. The boys played a strong game through and through, clean on both teams, penalty free and just a great game of hockey to be watched.   Both Orono and the Meteors had many scoring chances through the 1st 2 periods, but both netminder's, Orono, and Brooks for the Meteors, presented a stellar performance, stopping every shot sent their way.  It wasn't until the 3rd period, that Lucas Mahon, was able to place one in the back of the Leaf's net, to take the first lead of the game.  Putting pressure on the opponents,  the Leaf's, pulled the goalie, to gain  a man advantage, but were unsuccessful, as they lost control of the puck by the Meteors, and Jake Crowley was able to make a sure shot, and quench the lead, to a 2-0 eventual win.

Later that day, the boys would travel to Millbrook barn, to take on Mariposa from the Kawartha Lakes area.  The Meteors started out strong, but were given a good run by the Mariposa opponents, as they were not able to stop Mariposa from taking the lead early in the 1st, placing a hard shot passed netminder Smith.  The Meteors able to keep up for the 1st period, with Jacob Dietrich placing a nice one in the back of the opponents net, to make a 1-1 tie going out of the 1st period.  During the 2nd, there would be much action, with a couple penalties handed out between both teams, and many shots to both Mariposa and Porter, with 2 placed past our net, with a 3-1 score heading in to the 3rd period.  Trying to re-group, the boys, came out hard in the 3rd, and worked hard together, managing to have a nice pass to Jacob Dietrich again, enabling the beauty shot to get by the Mariposa netminder again, making in a close 3-2 score. Being anyone's game, both teams continued to show their want for the win, many scoring chances, Mariposa would make their way on the board not once, but twice in the final period, to  end the game, with a 5-2 win, to place the Meteors in a must win situation heading into Saturday evenings game.

Next game, was a full 27 hours later, at 9  pm Saturday in Millbrook's barn again, vs Norwood.
Norwood would come flying out hard, with a breakaway just 1 minute and 20 in the 1st, travelling fast towards Brooks in net for the Meteors, but a big save from the netminder, to  keep the Meteors in line for a fair chance early in  the  game.  Not 1 minute later,  the tables would turn, and the boys would gain control of the puck and make their way down to  Norwood's net, and secure the 1st goal of the game, by Jack Miller, from Preston Porter and Bryce Otten.  The rest of the 1st there would be many back and forths with both Norwood's goalie and Brooks making many crucial saves, to finish the 1st with a 1-0 lead. The 2nd period was a bit more eventful with the Meteors making an appearance on the board again, but in the penalty box this time, which would regretfully end up be tied up late in the 1st, as a shot slipped by Brook's with just 1 second left in the period to go making a tie 1-1 game to head into the 3rd period.  Knowing their fate, the boys fought hard to  try to gain  the lead, but would not be able to get anything else by the Norwood goalie, nor would Brooks allow any more to pass him, with multiple opportunities on both sides... with an eventual 1-1 tie for the 3rd and final game of the tournament.
