Atom Reps Drop Second Game of WOAA Playoffs
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union (YNCU) Meteor Atoms Reps hosted the Drayton Defenders on Jan 20th in Monkton, dropping a 4-2 decision in game two of their first round WOAA playoff series.
Drayton came out pressing hard and looking to score early, as goaltender Joel Meinen stopped a two-on-none breakaway in the opening period, but they did manage to find the net with 22 seconds left in the first to take a 1-0 lead. Ryan Klumper would tie it up for the Meteors in the second period, converting a beautiful saucer pass from Carter O'Brien from the top of the circle.
Drayton would then score three unanswered goals, including one on the power play, to build a 4-1 lead. Ryan Hubbard would add one goal back late in the third, roofing a backhander after an end-to-end rush, but that be the end of the Meteors comeback effort.
