Atom Reps Open WOAA Playoffs With Win
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union (YNCU) Atom Reps edged the Goderich Sailors 2-1 in WOAA round-robin action in Mitchell on January 13th. The locals are in a three-team pool with the Sailors and Drayton Defenders in the first round.
After almost two periods of scoreless hockey, Ryan Hubbard opened the scoring for the Meteors with six seconds left in the second period, tapping in a perfect pass from Charlie Geiger behind the net. Goderich would tie it early in the third period, knocking in a loose puck in the crease. Geiger went to work again midway through the third, scoring the winning goal after being left all alone in front of the net. Ethan Jarmuth had a strong two-way game, relentlessly back-checking to thwart several Goderich scoring chances.
