Atom Reps Edge Walkerton To Close Out Regular Season
The Your Neighbourhood Credit Union (YNCU) Atom Reps hosted Walkerton on January 6th in Monkton to close out their regular season, narrowly defeating their visitors for the first time this season by a score of 3-2.
Down 1-0 from a Walkerton power play goal after one period of play, Mitchell would tie the game on a beautiful pass by Ryan Klumper from the corner to Carter O'Brien in the slot who would tap it in. One minute later the Meteors would take the lead on a goal by Jack Miller that the goalie got a piece of but couldn't stop it from going in, assisted by Wade Campbell.
Mitchell would add to their lead early in the third, as Ethan Jarmuth tipped in a Colby Ryan shot from the blue line. Walkerton would make things interesting late in the game, scoring with less than two minutes remaining with the goalie pulled for the extra attacker, but the Meteors would hang on for the win.
