Mitchell Minor Hockey Update
The executive of Mitchell Minor Hockey (MMH) continues to plan for the 2020 return to play activities.  MMH continues to follow the recommendations of local and provincial health authorities as well as Hockey Canada, OMHA, and OWHA.  We are working closely with our local municipalities to build a safe and realistic approach to return to play.   The precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have caused all of us to make adaptations to our normal way of living, similarly for hockey we will need to adapt and plan to return to the ice for the 2020/21 season.

Based on the current situation, MMH expects to be starting its hockey season with hockey skills clinics for all minor hockey age divisions. These clinics will run until regular hockey returns and we as an executive have a clearer picture of recommendations and requirements.  A realistic timeline planned for these clinics to commence is the beginning of October assuming facilities and regulations permit that.

These skills clinics will not be mandatory in order to compete in the 2020/21 hockey season when it begins. These clinics will be offered to all age groups from Tyke to Juvenile. The clinics will be based on a separate registration then the previous registration from March 2020.  More detailed information will come regarding the cost and timelines of these clinics later in the summer.

The clinics will be composed of skills and drills and will follow all COVID-19 protocols. They will not involve any games based on the current recommendations. These clinics will not be used as a method to select future teams (tryouts) when it is decided the 2020/21 hockey season begins. These clinics are to be a place where players can improve their skills and enjoy the game of hockey within the current COVID-19 protocols.

A couple key information pieces to note:

1/ MMH Hockey registration cheques collected earlier this year for the 2020/21 season will not be cashed on August 1st, 2020.  We will provide an update on this in upcoming weeks.

2/ MMH AGM will be postponed to a future date.  Any updates will be communicated once confirmed.

3/ Communication of all updates will be critical in the upcoming months as this evolves.  MMH will use the website to keep current on all communications. If there are questions or concerns please reach out to members of the executive.
