First TEMA Cup to Benefit First Responders with PTSD
Come Support Team TEMA on June 7 at RBC Arena vs. Stratford firefighters
The first ever TEMA Cup, pitting Team TEMA versus the
Stratford firefighters, is scheduled for Sunday, June 7 at the RBC Arena at the
Rotary Complex.
Proceeds from the game are going to the
Tema Conter Memorial Trust, Heros Are Human (www.tema.ca).
That organization supports correctional, emergency and
military personnel who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and
this game is organized by Stratford native Larry Baker, an Alberta peace
officer and former fire chief. Larry, a goaltender, will also anchor Team TEMA.
Team TEMA consists of members of the community as well as
EMS and Law Enforcement personnel.
The team got a big boost this week when Stratford native and Stanley Cup champion Tim Taylor stepped forward to be the honorary captain. And now Team TEMA has been further bolstered with the additions of former NHLer Greg DeVries; Stratford native Joey Hishon who spent part of this past season with the Colorado Avalanche; St. Pauls area native, former Stratford Cullitons and retired NHLer Mark Bell; former Stratford Cullitons star and U.S. college standout Erik Anderson; former OHL star and minor pro player Stratford native Devin Didiomete and two members of the Stratford Cullitons Tyson Baker and Joe Leahy.
Some Mitchell natives as well are playing for team Tema, Jamie Gethke, Jeff Pauli, Mike Jarmuth and Greg Van Bakel. Team Tema has had a coach step up as well Jack Chaffe will man the bench. A team made up of Stratford firefighters will provide the opposition. Tickets are just $5 and a family pass is just $10. The doors open at 12:30 p.m. and game time is 1:30 p.m.
For tickets see the TEMA website.
