U18 Girls Capture Title at London Devilettes Tournament
The Mitchell GC Financial Solutions Meteor U18 Girls travelled to London this past weekend for the annual London Devilettes Girls Hockey Tournament, returning home with the U18 'C' Division Championship.
The Meteors opened tournament play on Friday with a pair of shutout victories, 7-0 over Lucan and 4-0 vs Woodstock. The final round robin game was played late Saturday afternoon, with the girls notching a 4-1 win over the host Devilettes team.
Despite only giving up one goal in three games, the Meteors found themselves seeded second after pool play, as the Twin Centre Hericanes did not give up a goal in all three games. Mitchell would Woodstock again in a rematch in the semi-finals late Saturday evening, with goaltenders Kora Smith and Ashlyn Edwards combining on another shutout. Twin Centre defeated London 6-1 in the other semi-final, to set up Sunday's final against Mitchell.
Mitchell's high-powered offense proved to be the difference again, with a 5-1 victory over Twin Centre in the Sunday morning final.
