Boville's Hat Trick Leads U15 Girls To Title In Festival Cup
Led by Brooklyn Boville's three goal effort in the final, the Lockhart Funeral Home Meteor Girls captured the U15 'C' Championship this past weekend at the annual Stratford Aces Festival Cup Tournament with a 7-3 win over St Marys Rock.

The Meteors opened tournament play on Fri Nov 19th, facing familiar WOGHL opponent Huron Heat at 11am in Milverton. Goaltenders Kora Smith and Alissa Insley stood tall, backstopping the team to a 4-0 shutout win.  The girls roared out to a commanding 3-0 lead after the first, on goals by Brooklynn French, Haileigh Templeman, and Alexis Gettler and assists recorded by Grace Laverty and French.  Teagan Hickling would add an unassisted insurance goal in the second period.  Templeman was named Team MVP for the game.

Playing their second game of the opening day, Mitchell squared off against another league opponent the host team Stratford Aces, who they had not yet faced this year.  Brooklyn Boville opened the scoring on an unassisted breakaway, and the teams would trade goals with Hickling adding her second marker of the day, tipping in a point shot from Gettler.  Boville added her second of the game with the go-ahead goal late in the third period, assisted by Hickling and Josie Walker.  With Stratford getting ready to pull the goalie in the final minutes looking for the tying goal, Walker would score top shelf assisted by Laverty and Rachel Haefling to secure the win.  Boville earned the Team MPV honours for her two-goal effort.
Saturday's first matchup was with the St Mary's Rock, whom the locals were looking to avenge a loss in the pre-season, but fell 3-0.  Needing a win or tie to clinch second place in their division, the Meteors fought to a scoreless tie later that afternoon against league foe Lucan whom they had beaten twice in the opening games of the season.
Facing the #3 seed Wilmot Wolverines in the Sunday morning semi-final, the teams battled through two scoreless periods before Mitchell would finally open the scoring early in the third on a goal by Walker, assisted by Boville and Gettler.  Boville would add an insurance goal late in the game with the Wilmot net empty to secure the victory, assisted by Walker.
After edging Stratford 1-0 in the other semi-final, St Marys moved on to face Mitchell in the final.  The Meteor Girls came out flying right away, roaring out to a quick 3-0 lead after two periods on goals by Laverty and a pair by Boville who would finish with 4 points total in the game (3G 1A).  Other multiple point earners were Laverty (2G 1A), Hickling (1G 1A), and French (2A).  Walker would tally the final goal of the game, and Smith, Templeman, Haelfing, Addy Wolfe, and Ainsley Berendsen chipped in with single assists.
Outstanding effort when it counted the most in the final game, WAY TO GO GIRLS!!!
