Silverstick Regional Tournament - Game #1 vs Kincardine
The Walkom’s Valu-Mart Mitchell Atom Rep Meteors faced the Kincardine Kinucks in their first game of the Silverstick Regionals in Wingham on Sunday, November 24.

The Meteors found themselves having to play defensively from the start against Kincardine. More so when a tripping penalty put Mitchell short handed at 2:50 of the first period. Carter Miller made several stellar saves, stealing chances from the Kinucks to go ahead. At the end of the period, Mitchell had been out shot 12-1, but the score remained 0-0.

Kincardine pressed again in the 2nd period. Mitchell tried to hold them off but the Kinucks finally scored on a screened shot at 3:30. Kincardine scored 2 more in the period and outshot the Meteors 13-4.

The 3rd period saw Kincardine adding 2 more goals, the score 5-0 with 5 minutes left in the game. Just over a minute later, Jake Richardson took a hard hit into the boards resulting in the Kincardine player receiving a major for boarding and a game misconduct.  The Kinucks soon took another penalty thus resulting in a 5 on 3 situation for Mitchell.  The Meteors were able to capitalize with Owen Beuermann scoring from the point with 2:29 left on the clock.  Mitchell never gave up, working hard all game, right until the end.  The final score 5-1.  Kincardine out shot Mitchell 34-10 and for his outstanding performance in net, Carter Miller was selected Meteor's Most Valuable Player of the game.

The Walkom's Valu-Mart Atom Reps next game of the tournament is against Saugeen Shores at the Wingham arena on Wednesday, November 27 at 6:15pm.
