Exhibition Recap Before Provincials This Weekend!
The Tru Country Peewee Girls B have played a few exhibition games to hold them over till we head to Provincials this weekend.  The girls continued their dominated play over their opponents with 3 shutout wins, another win and a loss.

Exhibition Recap:
Our first and only home game of our exhibition series was on Friday March 10th in Mitchell vs the Bluewater Hawks.  Nothing was settled in the opening period with the score remaining at zero but our gals found their stride and netted 2 goals in the middle period to take the lead 2-0.  Emma French and Brooklyn Gethke would start the scoring for us with Erica Pletsch and Taya Cornish earning the assists.  With time winding down in the final period, Emma French would notch her second of the game off the sticks of Erica Pletsch and Brooklyn Gethke.  The girls won 3-0.  Nice game girls!

The next game of our series was against the Huron Heat BB team in Hensall on March 22nd.  We knew this game would be tough as they are in the division above us.  Right from the face off, we had their numbers and just didn't give them much room to skate or set up any plays.  The hot stick of Emma French would open the scoring with help from her line mates of Erica Pletsch and Brooklyn Gethke.  Score remained the 1-0 for us going into the third period.  Makayla Beuerman was tested a few times but the Heat just couldn't seem to get it pass our mighty Mickey.  Alexa Hahn scored to add to our lead in the final period from the play making of Jaimie Badley and Nicole Simmons.  Nice work girls!  The game would end in favour 2-0.  Awesome game girls, I think you surprised a few of those Heat players and fans.

A few days later on Sunday March 26th we traveled to Strathroy for the rematch with the Hawks.  With the puck dropped we started this game a bit slow and sluggish but that didn't change the score in the opening period.  With the score at a deadlock of 0, it took till the last minute in the second period before we got on the board.  Erica Pletsch got us on the board first from the passing of Emma French and Brooklyn Gethke.  With the clock under 20 seconds left in this second period, Nicole Simmons skated down the ice with Hawk players trying to take the puck off her stick but she drove hard and scored from the back hand to increase our lead to 2.  Way to go!  Arianna Catalan and Ava Gibbings would earn the assist.  The final period started and ended with us still leading and winning the game 2-0.  Another win, another shutout, our girls are on fire.

Our next challenge would be the Stratford Aces BB team on March 29th in Stratford.  Again we thought this would be tough but our girls were up to the task at hand.  Stratford would open the scoring in this game but we answered right back with Jaimie Badley scoring unassisted.  After the opening period the score was tied at 1 and puck was dropped for the next period's battle.  This time, Brooklyn Gethke took a beautiful pass from Emma French to get the puck in the back of Stratford's net to take the lead.  Nice pass!  Within a minute, Alexa Hahn was right by the net to tuck the puck in to score and make it 3-1 for us.  Nicole Simmons earned the assist.  Stratford once again cut into our lead to end the period with us holding the slim lead 3-2.  The final period was here and our girls continued to show how feisty they are, Nicole Simmons was battling hard in front of the net and was rewarded with a goal, Jaimie Badley got the assist.  As time continued to wind down in this final period, Jaimie Badley got that puck on her stick and just blew that little black disk passed the Stratford net minder, honestly, she didn't even see it coming as it went top shelf and even moved the water bottle sitting on top of the net.  What a shot!  With the momentum in our favor, the girls took the game 5-2.  Awesome work girls!

The next night, Thursday March 30th, everyone gathered up their equipment and headed to London to take on the Devilettes BB team for a 6pm puck drop.  This wasn't our best game as we gave London to room to skate and set up their plays.  London would score first in the opening period but in the last minute of the first period, Erica Pletsch would score with Emma French and Brooklyn Gethke earning the assists.  The second period would stay the same with the score at a deadlock 1-1.  The final period, London took advantage and scored a couple of goals to win the game 3-1.  Tough one girls.

With our exhibition run all done, we now look forward to our next task - Provincials this weekend.  Our girls are keen and ready to show our mighty Mitchell power and hopefully come home with a medal around our neck.
It has been a great season and we are all looking forward to cheering and watching this group of gals this weekend, so bring it on - GO PEEWEE B METEORS GO!
