McLaughlin Novice Rep Boys cap off busy holiday season with home tournament win
The Novice Rep Meteors regrouped just days after their Silver Stick victory to again show strong will and determination as they played in the Mitchell Hawks Cup. All cylinders were firing as the boys’ showed the drive to win is always present especially in the home town contest.

The McLaughlin Rep boys opened Friday morning against an unfamiliar opponent St. Marys Rock. With a pair of first period goals the boys never turned back as they added another in both the second and third to take the first contest 4-2. The second game brought a more familiar group as the boys took on Stratford Tier 1 Warriors. The Warriors came to play though and held our boys back to the tightest contest between the two this season, only allowing two goals for a 2-0 Mitchell win. The turnover was quick as the boys were back on ice again first thing Saturday to take on more new faces from Georgian Shores. But the boys would not be wavered as they controlled the match and skated to a 10-0 victory. Saturday night brought a team the boys had only met off ice at the Simcoe tournament but would finally meet on ice for a Hawks Cup match. Again the Meteors boys took to the ice with the determination to represent their home town. The boys pressured hard and gave the home fans a 7-2 victory. With a few hours to rest the boys would meet up with their opening game opponents again for the rep division finals. Both Mitchell and St. Marys came out pressuring but good goaltending and blue line strength kept things tight and fans tense. Our boys stayed strong to their style and played their constant pressure game and netted two goals in each of the three periods to hoist the Hawks Cup in a 6-3 final. Great work again boys, you show that hard work is the key to your success!
