The Ace Garden Centre Meteor Girls recorded a win and loss
in weekend play.
Playoff opener against the B.A.D Blazers was a back-and-forth
affair, similar to when the teams met in the Stratford tournament earlier in
the season, but with a different outcome. The girls ended with a 2-1 loss in
the playoff opener. The Blazers were up by two in the second period when the
lone Meteor goal came from Danica Voros to give some hope. Both teams battled
hard for the remainder of the game, but as time ran out, the Meteors would have
to settle for the loss.
Game two against Lucan Irish was also a very close match.
After a scoreless first period, both teams battled throughout the second period
to get the go-ahead goal. The Meteors were first to score on a shot in the
second from Kinslee Horan assisted by Voros. As the minutes wound down in the
third, and some intense play in the Irish zone with an empty net. Neither team
was able to score and the Meteors recorded the 1-0 victory. Ally VanBakel made
some great saves throughout to earn the shutout.
