Peewee Girls Begin Opening Round of Playoffs Over the Weekend
The J.P. Uniac Peewee B Girls began LLFHL playoffs on the weekend against the West Oxford Inferno and put themselves ahead in the series with a tie and a win.

On Saturday, Mitchell hosted the Inferno and looked a little rusty but were able to secure a 1-1 tie.  Ally Vogels was strong in goal including a tremendous point blank toe save to keep Mitchell in it until West Oxford scored midway through the second to take  a 1-0 lead.  Kora Smith took over in goal nearing the end of the second period to finish out the game and was equally sharp holding the opponents off the board to keep the Meteors in the match.  Mitchell finally broke through on the first shift of the third period on a goal by Andrea Kelly, assisted by Tegan Mace to finish off the game's scoring.
On Sunday the girls traveled to Embro for game 2 and looked like a team on a mission as they rolled to a 3-0 victory.  Being short a few players, Smith came out of the net to play defence and along with Hayden Uniac, Alexis Gettler and Aubrey Vosper , didn't give the opponents much room in our own end and Vogels was strong in goal earning the shutout.  Kelly had two goals and Ashley McLeod added another while forwards Mace, Jade Huygen, Rachel Haefling, Brooklyn Boville and Brooklynn French were also very strong creating many scoring chances.
The next game of the series is Sunday Feb. 16 in Mitchell with the Meteors looking to finish strong and move on to the next round.  Come on out and cheer the girls on.
