BANTAM LL’S CURRENTLY TIED FOR 1ST PLACE IN PLAYOFF ACTION
Seven games in with just three left to play and the Scotiabank Bantam LL’s are currently tied for first place in play-off action.

On Sunday, February 26th the boys made an appearance at the Mitchell arena where they hosted Central Perth (Monkton). Now if you recall a couple games ago they tied this team, so it was imperative that they buckle down and come out with a W this time. The first period came and went with no scoreboard action. Period two saw lots of penalties, but also an impressive unassisted goal by Cole WILTON as he deeked out the Monkton boys and popped the biscuit in top shelf ending the period 1 zip for Mitchell. Players should attempt to go bar down whenever possible if for no other reason then it’s such an impressive way to score a goal, so Josh BEDOUR did just that in the 3rd period. This game was full of amazing plays as Carter YOST added a third goal, short-handed, by swooping around their D and firing it into their net. With only a few minutes left on the clock, Monkton made a last ditch effort by pulling their goalie; however, Denzyl FINLAYSON shot from our end and it glided down the ice in slow motion and somehow managed to escape every player on the ice and land in the net. Kole HUNT finished the game with one last goal giving us an impressive 5 to 0 win and a shut out for Steve DAUM.

The following night (Monday, February 27th) the team travelled to Listowel where they acquired another shutout. Once again there was a bit of a slow start to the game, but in the final 4 minutes of the 2nd period Curtis DEJONG, YOST and Basil VOROS all scored leaving them in a very comfortable 3 to 0 position as they entered the 3rd period. DEJONG scored one more time with the assistance of Joey HILL at the end of the game and gave them a 4 to 0 win.

On Wednesday, March 1st a tired bunch of Meteors got whipped in Seaforth by the Stars. Try as they may, they just could not get that puck past them. Several minutes were spent in the sin bin by some of our Mitchell guys which didn’t help matters much either. Things were looking up in the 3rd period as Mitchell was on the power play and had a plethora of shots on net, but to no avail and they skated away with a 3 nothing loss.

Friday, March 3rd the Bantam’s hosted Minto in their Monkton barn. Once again action between the Mad Dogs and the Meteors was a bit rough and both teams spent a hefty amount of time serving penalties and giving the other guys the advantage. Fortunately the Meteors seem to have learned how to play strong defence while the other guys have the power play. YOST got the first goal of the game in the 2nd period. Half way through the 3rd period Wade MONDEN got the team’s next goal with the assistance of his line mates Will STEINBACH and DEJONG. Mitchell continued to put the pressure on and Dominic VOROS got one last goal with the assistance of Brent SMITH and MONDEN. The game ended 3 zip for Mitchell.

The boys have 3 playoff games this week. Wednesday in Lucknow followed by two home games, Friday March 10th at 9pm in Monkton and Saturday, March 11th at 6:45pm in Mitchell. Come cheer on your Mitchell boys so they can make it to the finals!
