Regular Season Winding Down
The Synders Graphics PeeWee Girls are coming close to the end of their regular season with just a couple more games left on the schedule.  In the last couple of weeks the girls have had some ups and downs in their games.  We played 2 league games and 2 exhibition games and came out with a 1 win, 2 loss and a tie.

On Thursday Jan 14th, the Ilderton Jets came to town to see if they could bet us but our mighty Meteors did the exact opposite, we totally dominated the game and Makayla Beuerman denied their every shot and earned the shutout.  Alexa Hahn would start the night off with Jamie Badley and Ava Gibbings giving their assistance.  During the second period Emma French would add to the lead with Ava Gibbings providing some strong defense and also earning another assist on the night.  The third period was uneventful until the buzzer was just about to sound as Taya Cornish would score on the empty net and the clock showing 0:00.  Way to go girls, 3-0 victory!  We would take a couple of days off and get ready for our rematch against the Jets at the Bud Gardens in London on Saturday.

Bud Gardens exhibition game was here and the girls were stoked to play on the big ice surface and also to meet a few of the London Knights players.  As the game started we were a bit slow and just couldn't seem to get anything set up.  This pace continued throughout the game and we would give Ilderton the win, 3-0 same score as the other night but just flipped! That's ok as it was exhibition and it was fun.

Back at home on Thursday Jan 21st we played against BCH.  Once again we started this game a bit slow and allowed the Ice Stars to get on the board first.  At the end of the first period, we were down by 2.  We needed to pull up our socks but the remainder of the game was just ok, as time was running down in the third, Brooklyn Gethke would score to stop their shutout game with the help from line mates Emma French and Erica Pletch.  The game would end with us losing 2-1.

This past Saturday we had an exhibition game against the Mount Forest Rams.  We had never played this team so far this season so we didn't know what to expect.  After the girls last game they all knew that they needed to play a lot more aggressive and play the way we know they can.  The first period was back and forth for both teams but neither could solve the goalies at each end, they both were solid!  Half way during the second period, Emma French with a mad scramble of players in front of the Ram's goalie scored to break the deadlock, the Meteors had finally struck.  Erica Pletch and Brooklyn Gethke were also right there taking their changes as well and set Emma up for the rebound goal.  The period would come to an end with us having the slim lead of 1.  Third period would start and the Rams tried to do everything they could to score on our mighty mite, Makayla Beuerman and they eventually did just that.  Score was even at 1 and the fast pace continued.  With our girls numerous attempts on their goalie she continued to shut them down.  The buzzer went to end the game and we tied.  What a great game for our girls, this is the way we know you can play.

The girls have a couple of league games left this week, our final home game on Thursday night and our final away league game on Sunday in Lucan.  On the horizon for our mighty Meteors before the start of league playoffs is Silver Stick next weekend in Saugeen Shores.   Good luck girls - we know you can do it!  We will also be going into playdowns to see if we qualify for Provincals in April.

The gals have a ton of hockey left so come on out and cheer on our girls!  Go girls Go!
