Close Battle with Listowel
The Scotia Bank Bantam LL team traveled to Listowel last night for a date with the Cyclones in our round robin playoff series.  It was an interesting game and kept everyone on the end of their seats!

With the game about to start with each team well warmed up, the lines were set and ready to go, puck dropped and clock started in this high flying back and forth game.  As each team tried to set up their plays, our boys took control and played with determination as we took the first few shots in this game.  Finally, after a few close chances to score, Ben Small from a pass of the stick of Karsen Eisler would score to get us on the board.  Good work boys, let’s keep this team effort going!    This would be the loan goal of the period.

As the paced picked up as well as the intensity from Listowel in the opening of the second period, the play would be bounced from end to end with numerous chances again but that Cyclones goalie flipped and flopped to keep our boys from increasing their lead.  A wee bit of chirping began between the teams putting a few kids in the box.  Even with all this going on, neither us nor Listowel were able to change the score on the board during this second period.

With a break before the start of the final period and a pep talk from our coaches in the dressing room, the gritty group of Meteors took to the ice again to hopefully hold their lead and seal the win.  Right from the face off the aggressive attitudes showed from the Cyclones as they continued to battle for that little black disk, and sure enough we allowed Listowel to skate around and score on our goalie Brent Smith.  Now the game was tied, our boys had better pull up their socks as we got a little sloppy in the start of this final period.   With the play moved back into Listowel’s end, a scramble of black jerseys right in front of their net, Jarrett Ramseyer snuck the puck in by their goalie to score.  Right on! Way to work Meteors! Connor Louwagie and Cole Wilton would earn the assists from their distractions in front of the net minder.  With frustration showing on the Listowel players, as our boys were just taking control of the game, we would again set up a beautiful play allowing Cole Wilton to shoot and hit the cross bar to have the puck fall behind the goalie to score and increase our lead 3-1.  What a shot! That shot would not have been possible without the quick puck movement of Jarrett Ramseyer and Zach McPhee.  As time winded down and just over a minute left on the clock all we wanted the boys to do was keep that puck out of our end but Listowel didn’t give up and scored again to cut our lead to just 1.  The momentum of the game had switch in the last minute of play and it took all of our boy's effort to keep it away from their sticks but they dug down deep and passed it between our players to hear the buzzer go and we won the game 3-2.

The rematch game should be interesting back on our home turf next Friday night but before that the boys will be busy with a few games still this week. Thursday night the boys will play BCH in Clinton, Friday night play Wingham at home in Mitchell and look forward to meeting up with the Goderich Sailors on Saturday night in Monkton.
