Wow, What a Game in Goderich!
The Scotiabank Bantam LL team had an exciting and nail-biting game last night against Goderich on their turf.  This was the best Sailors vs Meteors game all season as they couldn’t seem to handle the Meteor wave of power and play making!

As game time approached and the teams took the ice for warm up and ready to start this game, our boys knew it would be a challenge as we haven’t had the best of luck against those Sailors yet this year but it’s playoffs so anything can happen.  The game started off quickly with us carrying the puck and trying to get that first all important goal.  Back and fourth down the ice both teams would skate and setup plays but both goalies were denying shot after shot.   As play continued during this opening period, Goderich would manage to get that little black disk around our goalie Steve Daum to get on  the board first and take the lead 1-0 going into the second period.  The next period started and continued to be aggressive play for our Meteors as we dominated the puck procession and with the smart playmaking of Eric Dearing and Kole Hunt being around the net to distract the Sailors defense, Karsen Eisler scored to even the game at 1.  Awesome!  Let’s keep this momentum going for the third period.  With another faceoff at centre and still us controlling the play, the middle period would end with the score deadlocked again.  As us fans patiently waited for the ice to be cleaned and the boys to make their appearance, we knew this was going to be an edge of your seat final period.  Both teams got settled and game on again, during this period each team was giving it their all to score but the Sailors goalie along with our Steve Daum were both making some tremendous saves to keep their teams alive in this barn burner.   With time winding down and still nothing changing  on the scoreboard except the time the buzzer would sound for yet another 10 minute sudden death overtime – our second one in just a few nights.  Wow, what a game!  A little breather for the guys and a few words of encouragement from the bench staff, our boys cheered and were ready to start again.  Overtime started and our high flying Meteors continued to dominate the ice,  moving the puck around those Sailors and setting up some amazing shots on net but we just couldn’t seem to beat their goalie.  As the clock counted down in this 4th period of hockey the buzzer would sound and the score would remain tied at 1.
Great game boys! The rematch will certainly be interesting.
