Novice Girls start tournament off strong!
The Tru Country & Garden Novice Girls played their first game of the Mitchell Girls Hockey Tournament Friday at noon.

The first period started off well with a lot of back and forth play in both ends.  Mitchell was first on the scoreboard with a beautiful goal by Ashley McLeod assisted by Kara Rolph and Tegan Mace and that is how the first period would end.  The girls came out rejuvenated and ready to play the second period and after being on the ice for only 43 seconds Danielle Harmer potted her first of the tournament on a beauty of a breakaway.  Kitchener would come back 1 minute later with a shot from the point to sneak once past Goalie Grace Kipfer.  The second period would end with the girls up 2-1.  After a brief pep talk the girls headed back out on the ice for the 3rd period, this would prove to be their period as the girls owned the ice.  Rolph started off the scoring this period banking one in off a shot from Rachel Haefling.  2 minutes later Jade Huygen would get her first of the game on a pass from the defence Peyton Vanderkuylen and Rylee Kipfer.  Rolph would round out the scoring on a lone man rush from the blue line.  Final score at the end of three periods 5-1.

Credit goes to the fantastic defence on a well played game.  These girls made some incredible plays.

Action commences tomorrow morning at 10:00 am in Mitchell.

Let's go Meteors!
