The Dodge
Caravan Novice AE's came out of the gate flying and didn't look back when they
met up with the Zurich Thunder for a 5-3 win, in game on the road Saturday
afternoon.
The first period opened with an unassisted top-shelf goal by Ryan Klumper at 5:08. Then 10 seconds later, Payton Wood would add the second goal when he scored off the face-off through the 5 hole. With less than a minute of play in the first, Ryan Glauser tipped one in from a pass from Wade Campbell to leave the Meteor's leading 3-0.
The second period saw Wood add two more additional points on the scoreboard for Mitchell (resulting in a hat trick for him), with the assists going to Campbell and Glauser. However, just past the mid-way point in the second period, Zurich put pressure on Keegan in net, and added one of their own bringing the score 5-1 heading into the third.
During the final period, Zurich capitalized with a power play goal early on. The Meteors defense did an outstanding job looking for their man to clear the puck out of their end to the Meteors forwards who put pressure on Zurich's goalie. However, the Thunder would add one final goal with just over a minute of play remaining in the game, ending with a 5-3 decision for Mitchell.
