Meteors trumped at Aces Tournament
The Mitchell Novice girls participated in the Stratford Aces tournament this weekend. Though they played with all their hearts, they met their match.

Friday morning facing off against the strong Woodstock Wildcats team the Novice girls were outscored in the first two periods, allowing a score of 2-0 going into the third. Deciding to turn it on and hold their hand Sadie scored two goals in the third to make it a tie game. The Wildcats then attacked with their final marker, and game winner with a final score of 3-2.

Later that day for the second game of the tournament the team took on the Lambeth Lancers. Proving their worth the girls worked together to move the puck up the ice and put the pressure on the Lancers defense. Resulting in three goals in the first period credit to Cydney, Alia and Sadie, who also added another in the second period. The Lancers came back with a goal in the second then two more in the third. Final 4-3 win for Mitchell.

With two close games, one loss and one win into the tournament the Novice girls played against the tournament hosts, Stratford Aces Saturday afternoon. Defense came together to pass the puck up the ice helping our goalie Shawni to another success. It wasn't until the second period that our offense was able to get around the aces to score two goals, both by Cydney, who was planted in front of the net, assisted by Alia with beautiful passes out front. The Aces found a spot, lifting the puck to score in the second. Sadie scored one for herself in the third, assisted by Jordyn in the third. This is their second win of the tournament with a final score of 3-1.

In do-or-die action Saturday afternoon the girls played against the Chatham Outlaws, wanting to settle the score from last weekend. Though they really wanted to beat them bad, that Outlaw#44 was hard to catch and scored a hat trick for Chatham. Alia turned it on during a good line change to charge the goalie and find the back of the net to score one for Mitchell. Final score 4-1 for Chatham.
