Meteors Put Forth a Strong Effort in Silverstick
The Meteors played well over all in their three games at Silverstick finishing 1-2. The tournament was played in Wingham and Blythe throughout the week.

The Meteors kicked off the tournament Monday night with a 3-1 win over BCH. Evan Chaffe earned the MVP of the game with 2 goals and an assist. Chaffe’s linemate Joe McCarthy also played well with a goal and an assist. Mitchell played very well defensively with strong physicality by Jordan Mabb, Brett Adair and Josh Taylor. Dan Skinner played excellent in net going two periods without allowing a goal.
Mitchell struggled in game two of the tournament losing 4-0 to Tavistock on Thursday night. The Meteors had 26 penalty minutes which allowed Tavistock to score two powerplay goals. Mitchell also failed to generate offense with under 15 shots on the night. The loss meant Mitchell had to win their third game to advance.
Michell faced off against Lambeth Saturday afternoon. Mitchell started off strong allowing just two goals in the first and putting forth a number of great offensive rushes. Unfortunately Lambeth would add two more in the second to take a substantial 4-0 lead. Mitchell did however add a goal late in the second, their first in 5 periods, with a great shot from the point by Trevor Skinner set up by McCarthy and Sam Skinner. Lambeth would add another halfway through the third to make it 5-1 which would be the final score. Mitchell struggled again with penalties with 42 penalty minutes on the night. Despite the loss Mitchell played very strong offensively with great rushes by Devon Schinbein, Chris Bernard and Cody Pauli, who made his return Thursday after missing over 5 weeks with a knee injury.
