The Mitchell Meteor Novice AE Dodge Caravan Kids played an exciting back and forth match against the Drayton Defenders Sunday afternoon. The team played strong for a narrow 5-4 loss against a challenging Drayton team.
Vincent Voros opened up the scoring for Mitchell in the first period with Drayton coming back two minutes later to tie it up heading into the second period. Drayton scored the second goal of the game with Mitchell’s James McCarthy answering that call just 25 seconds later to score Mitchell’s second goal, with the assistance of Vincent Voros and Xavier Lorentz. Heading into the third, Mitchell was down by one with Vincent Voros evening up the score once again just under a minute into the period. Josh French with the assistance of Caleb Templeman brought in another goal gaining the lead for Mitchell. Drayton came back once again to tie it up just 25 seconds later. Goalie Hayden Beuermann made some great saves throughout the game but couldn’t stop the final goal which flew over his head hitting the crossbar with just over a minute to go.
The team played a great action packed game.
Play resumes next Thursday as the team heads to the Elma Logan Tournament.
