The Mitchell Meteor Novice AE Dodge Caravan Kids went into Saturday afternoon’s game in Clinton against the BCH Ice Dogs with a mission to even the score. After an early season tie, and then a nail biting loss to BCH earlier this season, Mitchell wanted to prove that they will not back down and that they are a force.
The game started off with an early goal from Caleb Templeman in the first period and was backed up with a strong blue line to keep the Ice Dogs back. Both the Meteors offence and defence stayed focused through to the second when a dump in pass from Josh French caught the goalie off guard and turned into Mitchell’s second goal. As the third period started BCH knew they had to fire up their offence if they were going to get back into the game. So they came out shooting and found a way to get two early third period goals against the Meteor’s. But the goalie Andreas Harmer was on fire and made some fantastic saves to hold back the Ice Dogs, and with just over three minutes left Vincent Voros put Mitchell back on top with a short-handed goal. With the lead back Mitchell put up a brick wall and made sure to hold back BCH and even up their record against the Ice Dogs.
The Caravan Kids next game is Sunday evening in Mitchell versus Drayton.
