Mitchell Runs out of time to finish comeback rally
The Dodge Caravan Kids Novice AE grabbed the first goal of the game early thanks to Vincent Voros with a timely pass from Jack Small as Mitchell held the Drayton Defenders to their own end for the first few minutes of play Wednesday night. Mitchell came out strong but the goal was a wake up to Drayton as they pushed back late in the first with three unanswered goals.
After an early goal by Drayton in the second Mitchell tried to push back as James McCarthy answered a minute and fifteen after to hold Drayton’s lead to two. However, Mitchell was unable to hold the gap as Drayton’s strong skating center-man escaped Mitchell’s defence to push an offensive string of goals past the goaltender. But Mitchell wasn’t done, they rallied back in the third to try and wage a comeback as Voros scored three additional goals and Small added one more late in the period to bring Mitchell back to within three. It was a hard fought rally with strong plays and helpful assist points to Caleb Templeman, Daniel Ogilvie and Xavier Lorentz. Unfortunately the time clock ran out before the rally was finished as Drayton took the win 9-6. Mitchell Novice AE plays next on Friday night in Milverton.
