Sunday night hockey.
Listowel arrived in town for game #3 and the Meteors were looking to build on their Friday night success.

However, tonight Mitchell came out flat while the Cyclones came out flying.  While the Meteors managed to keep up to their visitors for much of the period, they could only hold them off the board until 4:24 in the first.  Mitchell worked at getting it back, but Listowel added to their lead with 18 seconds remaining in the period and went into the second up by two.

The Meteors looked to get themselves back into things quickly in the second when Eidt & Murray worked the puck deep and Rauser buried it to get within one.  While penalties to both teams would grant each side a few powerplays (and penalty kill duties), neither team would add to their tallies in this frame until Listowel increased to their lead with 3:30 remaining in the period, taking things in to the third with Mitchell down by a score of 3-1.

The 3rd period began where the second ended and penalties made the news as the Meteors paraded to the box.  Penalty kills took up much of the clock.  Then at the 6 minute mark, McCorkindale moved the puck to Eidt so he could pass it to Rauser where he finished it off to get them back within one with plenty of time on the clock.  However, the close margin would last for less than 3 minutes when Listowel buried yet another one to restore their two goal lead.  As time ran down, the Meteors knew they needed to get things closer and traded their goal tender for the extra skater.  With only 28 seconds remaining the Cyclones potted the empty netter and went home up 2 games to 1 in the series.

Tough game boys.  Regroup and dig in...

Game#4 goes Wednesday night back in Listowel.
