U15 LL headed for playoff finals
The Scotiabank U15 LL team fought hard and finished round robin play with a 5-0 record advancing to the WOAA finals.

The U15 LL team played their last three round robin playoff games over the past few days.

Friday, Central Perth Predators came to take on the Meteors. With a regular season 0-1-1 record against the Predators, Mitchell knew they needed to bring their best game. After a 0-0 first period, Wyatt Bouillon started off the night right by a goal in the second period with the assist by Greg McKay. Lucas DeJong added to the score with a shot from the point making it 2-0 after two. Central Perth came out strong in the third adding one of their own to the board but it wouldn’t be enough. Mitchell came out on top 2-1.

Sunday the Kincardine Kinucks Lighthouse team made their way to Mitchell. Never facing the Kinucks before the Meteors didn’t know what to expect. The first period did not go in Mitchells favour as Kincardine found the back of the net twice making it 2-0. The Meteors came out fighting in the second.  2 goals both by Keith Linton with assists from Nolan Rolph and Lewis Jenson ended the 3rd period in a 3-3 tie sending the game into overtime. However, the period was short lived when Jenson scored the overtime winner 1 minute in with a final score of 4-3.

The Listowel Cyclones were the last hurdle Mitchell would need to overcome to advance to the finals. After the end of the first period, Mitchell found themselves down 2-0. After a brief huddle, the Meteors were on fire in the second period. McKay fought through the defending cyclones passing it to Bouillon for the first goal of the night. Liam Baker added one of his own shortly after. Jenson scored his first of the night from a rebound shot from Micheal Coyne and Brayden Baxter would help Jenson score his second of the night with great defensive plays in the corner. Mitchell came back ending the second period 4-2. The third period was a nail bitter as Listowel scored their third goal making it 4-3. The Meteors team skated hard and played well defensively keeping it a one goal game. Final score 4-3.

Mitchell heads to Owen Sound Friday to take on the Owen Sound Jr Attack Gold team for a first to 4 points series. The Meteors will be back in Mitchell on Saturday with a 3:45 puck drop.
