E&F Masonry U18 Meteor Boys Season Opening
The E&F Masonry U18 Boys are trending in the right direction.  The boys have been working hard and are ironing out the kinks over their last few games to start out the season.

The Meteors hosted the Walkerton Capitals for their season opener on Friday October 28. Although the boys lost 4-3 they made some great plays and sent a few rockets into the back of the net. Preston Porter scored in the first for the Meteors to put them on the scoreboard with a fast-paced break out from Noah Mann. Tyler Scherbarth worked the line to keep the puck in the Walkerton end.  These defensive efforts by all helped Hayden Beuermann add the Meteors second goal from Ryan Hubbard and Nick Wagner to put the boys in the lead.  The boys would spend the second and most of the third missing the net until Beuermann with a pass from Jake Crowley found the back of the net again keeping everyone into the game, but it just wasn’t enough for the boys to finish on top.

After a week off of games and a bit of practice time the U18’s were back on the ice Friday November 4 to host the Mt. Forest Rams.  Liam Hunt was the only Meteor to secure a goal with assists going to Willem De Wit and Hubbard.  Logan Nugent had some flying energy to try to light something up in the boys but ended with a disappointing 5-1 loss.

Tuesday November 8 with a short bench the boys headed to Wingham to take on the Ironmen.  Colby Ryan took the ice for the first time the season and created some great energy on the defensive end moving the puck.  The lone goal would be by Willem DeWit from Ryan Hubbard in the second, this was all that was needed as the boys won 1-0.  Beuermann was in net to secure the shut out with a big key save from Brock Boville during a late in the 3rd penalty kill situation.

Gaining momentum and back on the road Wednesday November 9, the boys headed to Hensall to play the Mid-Huron Huskies 1.  Connor Brooks would get the shut out for this game, looking confident between the pipes as the boys took a 4-0 win.  Hubbard started the scoring off quickly in the first two minutes of the game assisted from Wade Campbell. Campbell would then put one away of his own late in the second with an assist from De Wit.  After intermission the boys came out a little flat but turned it around.  Andreas Harmer was working hard and creating opportunities for his linemates.  To restart the energy, De Wit, with a pass from Hubbard, let off a rocket from the line through both teams including the goalie.  Zach Huygen had everyone smiling as he tucked away a finishing goal in the final minute with Boville getting the assist.

The boys have a bit of time and some practices scheduled before their next game action in Mt. Forest when they take on the Rams again.
