Meteors host the Wingham Ironmen
The U18C Rep Boys hosted the Wingham Ironmen Tuesday October 18th.

The Meteors started out a bit slow on the scoreboard, as the Ironmen played hard in the first scoring 10 minutes into the game, followed closely by 2 back to back goals that made it though and past netminder Porter around the 12 minute mark, to make it a quick 3-0 lead early in the game.  Not too much before the buzzer, #11 Zack Richardson decided to shut down the streak of the Ironmen, placing a beauty goal in the back of the opponents net and marking the Meteors on the scoreboard, with an eventual 3-1 in the 1st period of the game.

After a quick briefing, the fellas re-grouped and went into the 2nd period of the game with an open mind, even down 1 man from a late penalty from the first carried in, but managed to burn that down with no damage done.  Within 10 minutes, #7 Mann danced around the Ironmen's defense, and parked one in the net by the Ironmen Netminder to ensure hope in the Meteors fans.  If that wasn't enough, the Meteors fought to make the tie at the end of the 2nd, by #17 McCarthy lifting the puck by Wingham, with a beautiful pass  from #18 Yost and #9 Scherbarth.

Netminder Brook's who entered the 2nd period of the game, showed the opponents that no puck was getting by easy, when he stopped both breakaways within the 2 last minutes of the 2nd to keep a hold the tie.

The Meteors were looking great on the scoreboard, but took a turn down penalty row in a quick hurry, which made a mess of the scoreboard, and would make boys need to work harder to fight for a win.  With two of the home team in the box, and the Ironmen up a 2 man advantage, it didn't take long for the visitors to knock one by netminder Brook's to take the lead once again 4-3 in the middle of the 3rd.  It wasn't too far after, just off the 2nd powerplay, that Wingham again was able to put one by Mitchells goalie, securing a lead by 2.  Lastly nearing the end, Mitchell filled the penalty box again, which gave the Ironmen, yet another chance to succeed in scoring, taking in now to  6-3.

As frustrations were high, #16 for the Meteors decided to skate hard down the ice and managed to dance around the visitors, and place the puck in the net, to take down the adrenaline rush that the Ironmen had going and score one more for the Meteors.  The home bench was to run strategy nearing the end, and made plans that included the goalie removed from net to gain an advantage which proved a success as the Ironmen helped by ending one skater in the penalty box, giving Mitchell then a 2 man  advantage, allowing the boys to make the final score a close loss at 6-5, with #12 Crowley dumping the final goal in the visitors net.

Next game time is Tuesday October 25th in Mitchell 9 PM vs The Clinton Mid_Huron Huskies.
