U15 REP Playdowns Game 2 vrs Ironmen
Saturday January 11, 2023 the Scotia Bank U15 Mitchell Meteor Reps traveled to Wingham for game 2 of the season playdowns. This would be Mitchell and Wingham's third straight match up with the last two games ending in ties. With a rivalry now heated up this game would not disappoint.
The Meteor's would spend almost the entire first period down a man killing of five straight penalties. However, Carter Miller would pick up where he left off making save after spectacular save. The penalty killing units were also excelling as the Meteors would only allow Wingham to score one power play goal at 5:36.
The second period would see an evening out of penalty minutes between Wingham and Mitchell allowing the Meteors power play to go to work. Landon Van Bakel (Asst., Charlie Wolfe) would let a rocket go from the point to tie up the game at 1 to 1. Later in the second period, a penalty shot would be called for Wingham in which Carter Miller would once again stand tall making an excellent save. However, with 1:48 left, Wingham would score to regain the lead.
The third period would be penalty free for Mitchell and they would completely take over the play on the ice. The red hot Landon Van Bakel (Unassisted) would score his second of the game to tie it up 2 to 2.
With the third period ending in a tie, Mitchell and Wingham would go to overtime for the third straight time in as many games. Mitchell put on an amazing effort but a Wingham player was able to break in alone and end the game at 4:01 of OT.
Next up, the Meteors welcome Listowel Cyclones to Mitchell at 7:50pm on Tuesday, February 14th, 2023 and hope to keep up their excellent play and get a few bounces to go their way.
