U15 REP Playdowns Game 1 vrs Ironmen
On Tuesday, February 7th, 2023 the U15 Scotia Bank Mitchell Meteors welcomed the Wingham Ironmen in their first of ten playdown matchups.  For Wingham, this would be their second Playdown game, losing their first 3 to 2 against Listowel.

The Meteors and Ironmen would pick up where they left off last game in an exciting match-up.  With end to end action the two teams came out strong looking for a win.

Wingham would score first with a power play goal at 3:03 of the first period.  Mitchell would respond with 55 seconds left, when Charlie Wolfe would find Landon Van Bakel out front to end the period tied 1 to 1.
The second period would see Ryan Klumper (Asst., Zach Siemon-Hergott) give Mitchell a 2 to 1 lead at 10:59.  However, Wingham would charge back to end the period with a goal at 4:19 and another power play goal with 42 seconds remaining for a 3 to 2 lead.

The third period would see Mitchell start out strong again with a goal at 13:44, scored by Ethan Jarmuth (Asst., Bryce Dixon), and followed by Zack Siemon-Hergott (Asst., Ryan Klumper) at 6:15.  However, the Meteors would take another penalty late in the third, which the Ironmen would to advantage on at 4:07, giving them their third power play goal of the game.

With the game tied 4 to 4 and the teams locked in battle they headed to over-time were neither team could break the score ending in a tie.  Most notably, Carter Miller would stand tall throughout making many spectacular saves including a break-away where he would flash the leather and completely rob Wingham of what looked like a sure goal.

Next up, Mitchell will travel to Wingham on February 11th for the rematch with puck dropping at 3:45pm.
