Game 18 vrs Wingham Ironmen
On Tuesday, January 24, 2023 the U15 Scotia Bank Mitchell Meteors traveled to Wingham for a rematch with the Ironmen. Mitchell lost the first match in Mitchell 2 to 0 back in December. However, Mitchell coming off a win against the Huskies came out strong looking to give the league leading Ironmen a loss.
Carter Miller would once again lead the way for Mitchell with another really strong performance. Carter would get tested many times in this game by the lead leading Ironmen and fustrate them all game long.
The first period would see the Ironmen open the scoring at 13:36 and 1:55 to take a 2 to 0 lead. The second period would open up on a power play for the Meteor's in what would be a penalty filled period, seven penalties in all. Ryan Glauser would put a perfectly placed shot towards the net that would be deflected by Ryan Klumper to Charlie Wolfe who would get Mitchell on the scoreboard. With time running down in the third period and Mitchell on the penalty kill, Landon Van Bakel would step up to block a slap shot at the point. From there, Landon would win a race to the blocked shot and leave the Ironmen defender behind as he went in alone to place a wrist shot top corner to tie the game and score one of the most memorable goals on the season. The Meteor's and Ironmen would battle this game out to a 2 to 2 tie.
With that, the Meteors regular season came to an end with a 6-10-2 record for 14 points.
