Silverstick: Game 1
Owen Dietrich scored twice and was named player of the game in a narrow 4-3 win over the Huskies on Sunday morning.
It was 2-2 after the first period and most of the way through the second. With just over two minutes left in the second period Aiden Crawford found the net to pull Mitchel into the lead. Halfway through the third, on a breakaway goal, Dietrich helped the Meteors get ahead 4-2. Stress levels ran high when two simultaneous penalties were called against Mitchell. In a last-ditch effort to pull ahead of the Meteors the Huskies pulled their goalie giving them a 6-3 on-ice advantage. The Huskies quickly netted one making it a 4-3 game with 1:50 to go. Even with two in the box Mitchell held strong, played smart and ran the clock DOWN.
The U11s play their second game of Silverstick tonight vs. Listowel.
