Insley Shuts The Door, U15 Meteor Girls Make It Three Straight In Playoffs
Goaltender Alissa Insley turned aside all shots and linemates Jade Huygen & Josie Walker each had a goal and assist as the Lockhart Funeral Home U15 Meteor Girls blanked the St Marys Rock 3-0 in Feb 23 WOGHL playoff action.
After a scoreless first period, the Meteors connected early in the second as Brooklyn Boville knocked in a goal on a scramble in the crease, assisted by Kora Smith. Huygen would add to the lead early in the third, with assists to Walker and Grace Laverty. With constant pressure in the offensive zone all night, Walker would add the insurance goal late in the period with a nifty spinning backhander set up by a pass from Huygen along the boards.
The win moves the Meteors into first place in Group A Playoffs with 6 points, next facing St Marys again this Saturday on the road to round out the home-and-home series.
