Silver Stick Collingwood Regional Champs
The Mitchell Meteors Atom LL MCR Advanced Collision Centre team Kicked off the Silver Stick Regional Qualifier Tournamnet in Collingwood this past weekend on Saturday morning facing Dorchester Dragons.

First period got underway with the Dragons sneaking a goal by our goalie. Meteors answered back in the second period getting on the board and then took back the lead with 3 goals from Wesley Berendsen and Baxter. Final period Visneskie and Rolph were able to sneak the puck past their goalie again giving Meteors the first victory win 5-4 over Dorchester.
After a short break Mitchell took the ice again for their second game against one of Collingwoods home teams. Meteors started off first [period strong. Holding a great pace and taking lots of shots allowed then to tuck the puck in the net with goals from Dietrich, Visneskie and Crowley. Second period Crowley sank another goal but Bach  was not satisfied Grace quickly scored the last goal for the Meteors. In the third period  Collingwood score one more goal but it wasn't enough to give them the lead giving Meteors their second win 5-2 with Mckay, Visneskie, Berendsen and Dietrich grabbing assists.
Third game got underway against Penetang Flames. Penetang had numerous chances on our goalie but Kelly and Harris both stood tall and only allowed flames a slim lead 2-0.Penetang continued to control the battles but with team work and great skill together Ainsley and Wesley Berendsen snuck one by Penetang Goalie.Meteors came up a goal short for a win ending with a loss 2-1 placing Meteors in second place going into semi finals on Sunday.
In semi finals on sunday Mitchell Meteors faced Penetang again with flames proving to be a tough aggressive team. The penalty box continued to have an open door for both teams as they battled to move on to finials. The mighty Meteors took off working together the Berendsen kid scored us 3 goals with assists from Dietrich, Bach and Visneskie. Third period flames were able to get on the board with their first goal but our goalies weren't letting anything more by them with their amazing moves. Giving the Meteors a 3-1 win in semi finals.
After pre game ceremonies Mitchell Meteors took the ice against one of league team Wingham Ironmen in the finals. Not a minute into the game Mckay bounced the puck by Ironmens goalie but meteors on the board but never stopped there. Second period with skill and luck Crowley doubled our score with aa pass from Ainsley Berendsen. Soon after Wingham sunk one in Mitchells net but our defense held strong to keep the puck out of their zone making it easier from Wesley Berendsen  and Mckay to net 2 more goals in the third period. Solid forechecking was powered by Meteors defence Wolfe, Baxter, Baker, Rolph, Krempien, and Coyne. Team mates Riley, Hoskin, Dietrich, Berendsen, Bach, Crowley, Visneskie and Mckay kept the pressure on the entire game digging at the puck and lessoned our opponents with passing and skills. Kelly and Harris had a stellar performance in net minimizing any chance of scoring more for Wingham. Finishing the finals with a 4-2 victory the Meteors Atom LL MCR Advanced Collision Centre team came home as Champions. Huge round of applause goes to our amazing coaching staff and all the parents they couldn't have done it without you.
The team will be advancing on to Silver Stick Internationals Finals in Pelham in January.
