Good Start to Season!
Submitted By Christine Beuerman on Wednesday, October 9, 2019
The Midget Girls have had a good start to their season so far, with a couple of wins in exhibition play and with a win and tie in the WOGHL Opening Segment.

With the start of a new season and some new faces joining the Midget team, the girls have started out on the right foot!
With a few exhibition games last month (September) to see how the girls would mesh together, it looks like we will be in for a fun and exciting season of hockey.  Their record in exhibition play was 2 wins against Ilderton, and 2 losses but those were against a very strong "B" team from Woolwich.
This past weekend, we started our league season with a couple of road games.  First was the Ilderton Jets on Friday night and B.A.D. the following night in Belmont.
Friday night the girls came to play and eventually got to the Jet's net minder in the second period to open the scoring with Tayler McCann and Alexa Hahn scoring.  Sammy Cameron, Emily Dearing and Emily Haefling (2) would be there to get the assists. Two goals wasn't enough for our feisty girls so Tayler McCann scored unassisted to add to our lead and with time winding down on the clock, Chloe Bannon netted our fourth goal of the game from the shot of Tayler McCann to seal the win 4-0.  Makayla Beuerman was solid in net and earned the shutout.
The following net in Belmont, Sammy Cameron scored unassisted in the opening period to give us the lead 1-0.  The second period seen a lot of action at both ends and by the end of the period the scored was tied at 3-3.  Taylor Williams and Tayler McCann scored with Nicole Hahn earning an assist.  Despite numerous chances in the third period from both teams and each team running into some penalty trouble, our goalie Maggie Phillips settled in and kept the score at a 3-3 deadlock to finish the game.
Next Tuesday Oct 15th the Midgets will play their first home game of the league season in Monkton and on the weekend (Friday Oct  18th at 9pm) the girls will be playing in our Mitchell Girls tournament, so if you want to see some great hockey, come on out!
